Bratislava, the capital and the largest city of Slovokia, is the ideal setting for European PLACE. Steeped in history, the city has something for everyone.

Check out some of the city’s many landmarks, including Bratislava Castle, home of the Slovak National Museum of History. Take in the view of the city and neighboring countries from its 47-metre-high crown tower.

The Eurovea is a shopper’s paradise. Enjoy the promenade, modern shopping center, restaurants, waterfront and theater square.

Just 10 km west of the city center, Devín Castle is Slovakia’s most popular sightseeing venue, according to the Bratislava Tourism Board. Built between the first and fourth century, the castle was destroyed by Napoleon’s troops in 1809 and the ruins were declared a National Historic Landmark in 1961. Perched on top of a high crag, the castle towers over the small village of Devín and overlooks the confluence of the Danube and the Morava rivers, the Austrian border.

Thirsty? Head to Apponyi Palace in the heart of historic Bratislava for the Slovak National Collection of Wine where you’ll find the top 100 wines from all over Slovakia. Specialized tasting programs allow visitors to taste 72 of the wines in 100 minutes.

Admire the city from above at the UFO Restaurant on the pillar of the New Bridge (Nový most). Enjoy Mediterranean and Asian cuisine 85 meters above the Danube.
