Built between the first and fourth century, the castle was destroyed by Napoleon’s troops in 1809 and the ruins were declared a National Historic Landmark in 1961. Perched on top of a high crag, the castle towers over the small village of Devín and overlooks the confluence of the Danube and the Morava rivers, the Austrian border.|
