What's New for 2012

Welcome Reception
Kick off your 2012 TAPPI PLACE Conference experience with a Welcome Reception at the Space Needle, sponsored by DOW, on Sunday, May 6 from 5:00-7:00 PM. After a 90-second monorail ride from the conference hotel, attendees and guests will enjoy a buffet dinner and reception on the Skyline Level of the Space Needle which is situated 200' from the base. You'll also have access to the Observation Deck.

Newcomers Lunch
Is this your first PLACE Conference? The Newcomers Lunch on Monday, May 7 will be your opportunity to meet your appointed PLACE mentor and other first time attendees.

Student Poster Competition
Find out about the latest in flexible packaging research Monday, May 7 at the Student Poster Competition during the Tabletop Exhibit from 4:30-6:00 pm.

Bowling Fundraiser
On Tuesday, May 8, join your colleagues for an afternoon of bowling fun in the Spare Room at Garage, a local favorite. This 1928 clear-span building on Capital Hill once housed a Plymouth dealership and automotive garage. Sign up as a team! What better way to create good, friendly competition among colleagues than with a game of bowling. Proceeds from this event will be directed to the TAPPI PLACE Scholarship Fund to assist and encourage young professionals in pursuing careers in the flexible packaging industry to help strengthen the future of the PLACE industry. Dinner Cruise Gala - Sponsored by NOVA Chemicals
On Tuesday evening, you and your colleagues will take a bus to South Lake Union where you will board the Emerald Star, a 105' yacht. While you dine, you'll be transported through Montlake Cut and into Portage Bay. You will see one of the largest houseboat communities in the world, including the 'Sleepless in Seattle' floating home. You will pass the historical Seattle Yacht Club and come upon the University of Washington football stadium situated right on Lake Washington. The cruise will continue under one of Washington's three floating bridges and past some of the world's most well-known multi-millionaires including Bill Gates, the McCaw homes (founders of McCaw Cellular) and the Nordstrom compound on Hunt's Point.
